Samsung Galaxy S5 Challenges iPhone and HTC M8 and Lumia 1520 to Ice Bucket Test

ALS Galaxy S5 Ice Bucket Challenge“I am the Samsung Galaxy S5. This is my Ice Bucket Challenge.” Never one to shy away from a good fight, Samsung’s Galaxy S5 took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and is now challenging Apple’s iPhone, the HTC
One M8 and the Lumia 930 to do the same.  Obviously, none of the phones challenged are water resistant like the Galaxy S5 and just as obvious is the fact that Samsung did not challenge the Sony Xperia Z2, which is water resistant. What is strange is the fact that the Galaxy S5 (Samsung) did not challenge the LG G3, which is not designated at water resistant or waterproof – after all, it is one of its archrivals.
Is it a shameful approach to advertising…maybe so, but it still is a lot of fun and keeps the Ice Bucket Challenge in the forefront. The 15-second video displays a Galaxy S5, speaking in a robotic-like voice – and about as cold sounding as a robot – explaining that it is taking the Ice Bucket Challenge and then challenges three of its top competitors to do the same.  We hope that the challenges will not go ignored…even though the nominated devices are not waterproof, they could still do a clever video – so we challenge iPhone, Nokia and HTC to come up with a more inspired video to combat the Samsung Galaxy S5 in this great cause.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease is a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control involuntary muscles.  It falls under the category of a motor neurone disease (MND) and is a quick and devastating disease for which there is no cure.  The Ice Bucket Challenge was designed to bring more awareness and donations to find a cure and has now raised over $40 million…a very good thing.
We will be watching in the coming weeks to see if any other smartphone participates in the Ice Bucket Challenge. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, you have to give a thumbs up to the marketing person that came up with the ad idea – does it exploit the ’cause’ a bit with its own agenda, sure it does, but it is still clever, a lot of fun and still promotes the idea to those that watch it.  Please hit us up on our Google+ Page and let us know what you think about the video…as always we would love to hear from you.
